Supporting vulnerable children in Uganda with care, resilience, and hope for a brighter future.

Join us in building safe havens, resilient lives, and brighter futures for Uganda's children.

Who We Are

At BeWell Childcare Initiative (BCI), we believe that every child, regardless of their background, deserves the opportunity to grow, thrive, and reach their full potential. Guided by a rights-based framework, we are committed to helping children overcome difficult life circumstances by building resilience—physically, emotionally, spiritually, and psychologically.

Our work goes beyond immediate care. We nurture holistic growth, empowering children with the skills, values, and abilities they need to transition confidently into adulthood. Together with our partners, communities, and supporters, we are building a safe haven for children today and a stronger Uganda tomorrow.

Children supported by BCI

Our Mission

To assist children to overcome difficult life circumstances by building resilience—physically, emotionally, spiritually, and psychologically—using a rights-based framework, so they can realize their full potential and contribute to building Uganda.

Our Vision

To see all children enter adulthood with holistic skills and abilities necessary to contribute effectively to the development of Uganda.

Our Core Values (DICE)

Four core values form the bedrock of our work, captured by the acronym "DICE".

Dignity

We respect the inherent worth of every child, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Integrity

We uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability in every aspect of our work.

Compassion

We show kindness, empathy, and understanding to every child who comes through our doors.

Empowerment

We empower children to discover their strengths and achieve their goals.

Our Ultimate Goal

Our goal is to raise a generation of resilient, skilled, and empowered children who contribute to Uganda’s national development. We address immediate needs while building long-term capacities to break cycles of poverty, neglect, and vulnerability.

Aims and Objectives

Aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Uganda Vision 2040.

  • Provide safe spaces where children are protected from abuse and neglect.
  • Strengthen access to quality education and life skills for OVCs.
  • Improve health, nutrition, and sanitation services in communities.
  • Empower families with livelihood and income-generating skills.
  • Promote child participation and governance in shaping programs.
  • Strengthen awareness against gender-based violence and child labor.
  • Develop partnerships to expand resources and impact.
  • Conduct research and advocacy to influence policies for children.

Faith Statement

We uphold moral and spiritual values that affirm the dignity of every child as a gift from God. While BCI is faith-inspired, our services are inclusive and non-discriminatory — welcoming children and families of all religions, ethnicities, and backgrounds. We believe that love, compassion, and justice are central to building a society where every child can flourish.

Our Approach — Holistic Model

Protection + Education + Health + Livelihoods → Holistic Child Development

Protection
Safe spaces & child rights
Holistic Child
Development
Education
Access & skills
Health
Nutrition & WASH
Livelihoods
Skilling & income

By interlinking these pillars we ensure children’s needs are addressed in a balanced way — education cannot thrive without health; protection is incomplete without livelihoods; and true empowerment comes from addressing the whole child within the whole community.

Theory of Change

If children are protected, educated, healthy and supported, they will become resilient adults who contribute to society.
